Into the battle zone: indoor vs outdoor paintball fields

At our “GUNSnLASERS” parks, paintball enthusiasts can experience the thrill of both outdoor and indoor battles at multiple dynamic fields. Whether you’re looking for a heart-pounding game in nature or a strategic match at our Riga indoor paintball arenas, we offer the perfect setting for year-round excitement.

Each location, both indoor and outdoor, features varying obstacles, shelters, and field sizes, providing an ideal battleground for every player. No matter the season or your skill level, we have a paintball field designed to take your game to the next level. Read on to find out more about paintball itself and our indoor and outdoor fields!

Paintball field surfaces

The type of surface where paintball is played can vary.

Outdoors. Natural surfaces such as earth and grass are preferable because it is easy to move, crawl and perform other manoeuvres on. Earth surfaces can be trickier as footprints are left on the ground which hampers intrigue. However, some experienced players make skilful use of this and deceive the enemy. Natural surfaces can be a bit more challenging in terms of safety, as players might trip over hidden obstacles like tree roots or slip on muddy patches during gameplay.

Indoors. Concrete and wooden surfaces are common in Riga indoor paintball arenas. They are not bad for playing paintball, but some might have one slight drawback, which is that they can be slippery, so it is important to wear appropriate shoes. However Riga indoor paintball arenas eliminate the risk of tripping on uneven terrain, providing a smooth and level playing surface for safer and more controlled gameplay.

Shelters and obstacles

Another key factor when choosing a venue is the presence of a shelter or obstacles. These include building walls, both multi-storey and single-storey, artificial shelters, inflatable figures, as well as logs or even car tyres. Natural obstacles and shelters may include bushes, trees, potholes and deep ravines. If the area also contains small houses or towers, this can be very exciting.

Paintball fields come in different shapes and sizes. The larger the battleground, the more players can be involved in the game, the average being up to 20 people per square kilometre.

Whichever location you choose, don’t stop at one place, as paintball is a diverse game that requires skill development, which is impossible without a change of scenery.

Our paintball locations

All of our paintball fields are unique and interesting, with different hiding places to disguise yourself from enemy attacks. Our Riga indoor paintball fields, the same as our outdoor fields, are available at two locations.

Paintball Sampeteris. A former textile factory with 2 outdoor fields covering 0.7 hectares with a two-story church tower and 2 Riga indoor paintball fields spanning over 1200 square meters, featuring real VW cars within. You can play paintball in Sampeteris even in the dark, as the fields are illuminated.

Paintball Mezaparks. A former USSR military base with a railway platform, pine trees, hills, old military buildings. There are 5 paintball fields in total, two of which are floodlit. Small inside field in the old USSR bunker.

Pros of our outdoor paintball fields

The most obvious advantage of our outdoor paintball Mezaparks and Sampeteris fields is the abundance of space. A paintball field can cover a huge area with endless natural obstacles and challenges such as ditches, hedges, trees and rocks, steep slopes and rocky soil, as well as man-made barriers and shelters such as walls and abandoned buildings.

Sampeteris is the newest of our “GUNSnLASERS” parks, where everyone can play paintball on spacious outdoor fields and more than 1200 m2 of indoor fields. Organising paintball outdoors offers a more authentic and immersive experience, allowing players to enjoy nature and the room for strategic manoeuvres.

Pros of our indoor paintball fields

Riga indoor paintball gives the advantage of playing in a controlled environment, protected from inclement weather, which is quite an added benefit, especially in autumn, winter and spring, when the weather is unpredictable. While you can’t guarantee good weather or aren’t prepared to play in the wind, rain, ice and snow, playing indoors means all your attention is focused on strategy and results. Games will also not be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

In addition, our fields are equipped with structures and obstacles designed to maximise the enjoyment and difficulty of the game. A smaller playing area means less running but more strategy and interaction with opponents, who are easier to spot and hit due to their closer proximity.

Paintball Mezaparks the same as Sampeteris offers the opportunity to keep the party going after a fun game of paintball. Bring your own food and drinks and relax in our break rooms or sheltered picnic areas.
